Dental Fillings in Fullerton

Fullerton Craft Smiles is a metal free dentist office. Drs. Kush and Krutav Patel place high quality ceramic and porcelain dental fillings for results that look natural and last- without the health concerns associated with traditional amalgam fillings.

A dental filling is a relatively simple procedure, producing minimal discomfort and complete during a single visit in most cases. Dr. Patel will prepare the affected tooth by removing the decayed area and as little of the tooth structure as necessary to place a stable filling.

Once ready, the tooth will be filled with the composite material that has been color matched to your smile. To seal the tooth and permanently attach the material, a special light is used. Dr. Patel will complete the filling process by polishing the newly placed material and adjusting any edges for a comfortable bite.

Mercury Free Dentistry

Composite resin or high quality porcelain fillings offer several key benefits to patients in addition to the natural looking result. The composite material is less sensitive to temperature change and can reduce both tooth sensitivity and protect the remaining tooth structure. Composite resins are also highly durable and less prone to developing cracks which allow bacteria to seep beneath, causing further decay and damage.

Dr. Patel can replace an old, dark or leaky filling with a white resin filling to improve the aesthetics of your smile and strengthen the affected tooth. If you have dark fillings in the “smile zone”, consider having them replaced with a white filling for a smile makeover that will also support lasting dental health.

Inlays & Onlays

Dr. Patel may recommend the use of an inlay or onlay for dental fillings being placed on the larger back teeth. This type of dental restoration, also known as a partial crown, offers both durable and aesthetic results. Dr. Patel uses quality mercury free, ceramic materials for all dental restorations, including inlays and onlays.

The process will require two visits to our Fullerton dentist office, first for impressions and tooth preparation and a subsequent visit for the permanent placement of your inlay or onlay.
